You step out of the master suite in the morning, slide the glass wall open, and the Caribbean is right there — a long ribbon of white sand called Anse des Flamands stretched below the infinity pool, no road, no crowd, just the sound of the surf and the espresso machine warming up in the chef's kitchen. Villa Wake Up isn't a hotel with a name pasted on; it's a private, staffed compound built by Architectonik to make you feel like the island is choreographed around you.
The Experience
Arranged over three levels and roughly 1,500 sqm, the villa is a study in contrast: cool concrete lines softened by tropical planting, neutral interiors, and walls of glass that vanish into terraces. The main deck is the anchor — an infinity pool that reads straight into Flamands, a shaded lounge, and a jacuzzi at beach level for sundowners. Six en-suite bedrooms sleep up to twelve, with the master perched upstairs at the front for uninterrupted sea views and a spa-like bath. Downstairs the wellness wing keeps rainy afternoons interesting: gym, sauna, hammam, massage room, and a proper home cinema (plus an open-air screening deck for barefoot movie nights). A private chef and butler run the household, so the fridge is stocked, the langoustines are grilled to your timing, and 'dinner reservations' becomes an optional concept.
What to Try
Book the in-villa massage as a pre-dinner ritual, then eat on the terrace with the chef doing a Creole-French tasting menu built around whatever came in that morning at the Gustavia fish market. Walk barefoot the length of Flamands at first light before the beach clubs set up — the sand is powder-soft and the water is a shade of turquoise that photographs unfairly. Take the outdoor cinema seriously: a late film on the deck with a bottle of rosé is the most St Barth thing you can do without leaving the gate.
Insider Tip
Flamands has almost no shade and the western exposure means blazing afternoon sun — plan pool time for morning, then retreat inside during the 1–3 pm peak and reclaim the deck for a golden-hour swim. Also: the villa's beach access is direct, but the surf here can be punchier than Grand Cul-de-Sac or Saline, so if you're travelling with small kids, ask the concierge to arrange a car for a Saline day trip.
