The Experience
Arrival is theatrical. You climb the winding road above Gouverneur beach, pass through the gated Domaine, and pull up to what feels less like a house and more like a modernist pavilion floating above the island. The upper level is a single luminous volume: living room, open kitchen, and a 20-meter infinity pool that spills toward the ocean, with glass walls that slide entirely out of the way when the trades are blowing. Two king bedrooms sit right off the main deck for guests who want to be in the middle of everything. Then the villa splits its personality. A path drops down the hillside to two more king bungalows, each with its own terrace and private plunge pool, tucked into the garden and completely separated from the main house. It's the sort of layout that solves the eternal group-travel problem: parents and adult children, or two couples traveling together, get their own worlds and meet on the deck for sunset. Days here move slowly. Coffee at the infinity edge. A short drive down to Gouverneur beach for the morning swim. Back up for lunch on the terrace, a nap under the sea grape trees, another dip. What to Try
Sunset from the main infinity pool is the ritual, but the real move is claiming one of the lower plunge pools for a slow afternoon with a book and a rosé from the villa's cellar. Order a private chef in for one night (the villa's concierge keeps a shortlist of the island's best) and eat by candlelight on the upper deck. In the morning, drive the five minutes down to Gouverneur beach before 9 a.m. when the sand is still empty and the light is soft. Back at the villa, use the lower-level kitchenette space as an informal yoga or stretching studio; the acoustic separation from the main house makes it feel like a private wellness pavilion.
Insider Tip
The two lower bungalows are the sleeper hit of the property. Repeat guests know to book them for the honeymooners or the light sleepers in the group, because they're so far from the main pavilion that you genuinely won't hear a thing from up top. Also: the drive up to Domaine Andres is steep and unlit at night, so pick up your rental car at the airport before dark on arrival day, and pre-load groceries from Maya's To Go or the Match supermarket in Saint-Jean on the way up.
