Ti' Corail
Feet-in-the-sand Creole seafood on Grand Cul-de-Sac lagoon
Why Go
A wheelless food-truck kiosk on the sand where chef Jimmy Desrivières turns the morning's catch into the island's most talked-about fish fritters — no shoes, no fuss, no menu that stays the same twice.
The Experience
Tucked into the shallow turquoise lagoon of Grand Cul-de-Sac on St Barth's northeastern shore, Ti' Corail (Creole for 'little coral') is the antithesis of the island's champagne-and-linen scene. You walk over from the beach in your swimsuit, drop into a plastic chair a few meters from the water, and eat whatever the fishermen brought in that morning. The vibe is pure Caribbean beach-shack: reggae drifting under the sea grape trees, kite-surfers zig-zagging across the reef-protected bay, and Jimmy calling out orders in Creole-French from a kitchen barely bigger than a closet. It's the kind of place locals send you to when they trust you to appreciate simplicity over spectacle.
What to Try
The accras de morue (salt-cod fritters) are widely called the best on the island — order them first, always. Follow with whatever fish is on the chalkboard that day: grilled snapper, tuna tataki, or a citrus-forward ceviche depending on the catch. Sides lean on island-grown herbs and salads from small St Barth farmers. Wash it down with a ti' punch or a cold Carib beer.
Insider Tip
There's no reliable booking system and seating is tiny — roll up right when they open for lunch (around noon) or plan on a wait during high season. Cash and small talk in French go a long way. Menu changes daily, so don't arrive with a fixed craving; ask Jimmy or the crew what's freshest and let them steer you.
The Practical Stuff
Located on the beach at Grand Cul-de-Sac lagoon, 97133 Saint Barthélemy — about a 15-minute drive from Gustavia. Lunch only, generally daily in season (call ahead in low season or during storm weeks). Phone +590 690 41-7859, email ticorailsbh@gmail.com. Casual dress (swimsuits and cover-ups welcome), parking is roadside along the beach access, and the setting is fully open-air with sand underfoot — plan accordingly if mobility is a concern.
