Also: the grocery run is Marché U in Saint-Jean, not the tiny Gustavia markets. Stock up once, then you never need to drive again.

A rental car is useful for beach-hopping (Saline, Gouverneur, Colombier) but not strictly required if you're happy sticking to Shell Beach and Gustavia dining.
