Set high above Anse des Flamands in the quiet Terre-Neuve neighborhood, the auberge is a cluster of ten simple, cheerful bungalow-style rooms wrapped in a tropical garden. Each opens onto a private terrace with either a peekaboo sea view or a leafy garden outlook, and each comes stocked with a full kitchenette, king bed, AC, safe, mini-bar, beach towels and folding chairs — the little touches that make a St Barth stay actually work. Days start with a five-minute drive down the hill to Flamands' pale-blonde sand and turquoise shallows, or a stop at Petit Colombe for a still-warm pain au chocolat. The pace is deliberately low-key: no lobby bar theatrics, no infinity pool with a DJ — just birdsong, hibiscus, and the sea humming somewhere below. What to Try
Book the Sea View category if it's available — the price bump over the Garden rooms is modest and the tradeoff is a slice of Flamands sunset from your own terrace. Use the kitchenette: hit the market in St-Jean for baguettes, rosé, and the local fish of the day, and cook in one night rather than eating out. Take the included/discounted Gumbs car rental package (a car is non-negotiable on St Barth) and use the hillside base to zigzag between Colombier, Saline, and Gouverneur beaches on the same day.

The Terre-Neuve hill is steeper and windier than it looks on a map — request a Garden room on the upper terrace if you want the quietest sleep and the best breeze, and skip the Sea View rooms closest to the road. Also: housekeeping pauses on Sundays and holidays, so plan a small grocery run on Saturday so your kitchenette carries you through.
