The Experience
Coda is a proper little pub — think a handful of stools, warm lighting, and a bar top that doubles as everyone's dinner table. It sits a short stroll inland from Orient Beach on avenue des Plages, so it catches the sun-soaked crowd drifting back from the sand and the villa renters coming down from Mont Vernon for a low-key night out. There's no beach view and no white-tablecloth ceremony; the appeal is the hospitality. The owner remembers your name by the second round, the playlist leans classic rock and reggae, and on live music nights the room punches well above its square footage. It's the closest thing Orient Village has to a locals' living room that happens to serve you tuna tartare.

Start with the house rum punch — it's the reason many people walk in and the reason they stay. From the kitchen, the shortlist punches above expectations for a bar this size: seared tuna and tuna tartare are the standouts, the fried shrimp is a reliable share plate, and the salads are big enough to justify skipping a proper dinner. Ask the owner (or peek at the chalkboard by the door) which night the live music is on — usually a small acoustic act — and arrive by 7pm to grab a bar stool before it fills up. The room seats maybe twenty comfortably, so once a band sets up there's standing room only. Cash in euros or USD both work, but bring smaller bills; the tab-running is casual and tipping the musicians in cash is expected.
